I built my first website in 2006. I built it to support my small business. But it wasn't hardly what you'd call great.

My first website wasn't that great because I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't understand the internet and how it worked.

I only wish someone had been there to help me from the beginning. But I was trying to run a business at the same time. It was just too much for me to do everything on my own.

I just couldn't focus on developing product, providing customer service, marketing, and still learn how to build a good website. So I ignored my website and focused on running my business.

I realized, a little too late, that I needed my site to work well in order for my business to go to the next level. Unfortunately, by then my website was very lackluster.

I was very disappointed at how my website turned out. Then one day I ran into a guy who would later become a good friend. He taught me a whole lot about the web and how search engines work. He taught me about keyword research. He taught me how to build a good webpage. He taught me how to make a website and how to organize it effectively.

I took this newfound knowledge and tried again. I went back into my website. I tweaked it. I changed things around. I applied what I learned. Things didn't get better right away, but I definitely saw an improvement.

And that little bit of knowledge started something. I continued to study. I studied search engine optimization. I studied ezines and ebooks about promoting websites. I studied just about everything I could get my hands on about web design and html.

I put this knowledge to work and my website got better and better.

And I studied harder and harder.

Now my website gets pretty good traffic. I get hundreds of visitors a day. I'm ranked in the top 10 in Google, Yahoo, and MSN for my main keywords. And I make pretty robust online sales every month.
