Make A Website. Make It Great.

Website Content - Make It Unique, Useful, And Relevant.

Importance of Good Information

I cannot stress the importance of good website content enough. Having unique, relevant, and useful information on your website is what you'll need to make any sort of impact. There's just no getting around it.

It was true ten years ago, and it's still true today.

Content Is King.

But what is good content? What ideas can you use to create good information for your website? How can you make your site one your visitors can't do without?

Here are some things you can use as good content for your site.

  • Text - This is still the most common way of spreading information online. Though it's lost some importance, it's still the thing that search engines (and people) rely on first.
  • Photos/Images - After text, photos and images are the most popular type of content. Photos are usually used to enhance or describe your text. Nonetheless, it can be used to give information to your visitors if done correctly.
  • Videos - I believe videos are the most effective way of communicating with your visitors. Text and photos only stimulate the eyes. But video can stimulate the ears and eyes, giving your visitor even more valuable information.
  • Other Types of Content - There are other ways of communicating with your visitors through your website. Graphs, surveys, polls, audio, can all be used effectively on your website.

Make Sure It's Unique

It's not enough to just put a bunch of words, pictures and videos on your website. You've also got to make it unique.

Text, the most basic and common form of web communication, is also the most difficult to create. You must be dedicated and patient to sit at your computer and write several articles for a website or posts for a blog.

And most people lack this dedication and patience, and that's why most websites fail.

Others try to find ways around writing pages and pages of text. So they steal, copy, duplicate, and whitewash pages from other websites. This is a good way to build up lots of pages, but it's also a good way to banned by the search engines.

Or sued.

Twitch's Cool Info: "Ever seen a crazy rabbit? Steal my content and you will!"

The best way to create unique text is to do it yourself. It can be time-consuming, but if you're writing about a subject you love, that will make things much easier.

But even the most die-hard people find it difficult to create 20 or 30 pages of unique, hand-typed, content. So, you may also want to consider hiring a copywriter instead.

I will create unique, well-written, optimized articles, for your website or blog, on virtually any subject. Copywriting services start at $10 per post for blogs, and $15 per page for websites. Contact me with your copywriting needs.

If all you had to do was write great pages for your website, life would be so much easier. But that isn't reality. In addition to writing good pages, you also have to optimize it for search engines, and promote it.

All of your content should be unique. That means it should be yours!

Using your own pictures is better than using pics from another website. Though it may be necessary to buy stock images at times, there are other things you can do to create unique pictures, images and graphics.

For example:

  • Create your own graphics using a graphic editor like PhotoShop, Gimp, or Paint.Net
  • Take your own pictures of your subject (or something related to it) with your own camera.
  • Hire a photographer (kinda pricey if you ask me, but it might be right for you).
  • Or do what I did and draw your own pictures!

If you use videos on your website, that should be unique also. It's very easy to find videos for almost any topic. You can stream videos for free from YouTube, Dailymotion, and many other websites.

There's nothing wrong with streaming videos. But it should be balanced with some videos of your own also.

Using your own video has two benefits:

  1. You will engage your visitors more deeply and they'll spend more time on your page.
  2. You have a chance to attract more visitors to your website by posting your video on YouTube or other video sharing sites.

Make Your content Relevant

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's important enough that it should be mentioned.

Your content must be relevant. By that I mean, it must be important, useful, and related.

  • Important in that your visitors want to know it just as much as you want to share it with them.
  • Useful in that your visitors gain some benefit from it.
  • Related in that it is has something to do with your overall website topic. Don't write pages about hamster breeding if your website is about engine repair.

This should explain the importance of creating good, unique, relevant content for your website. Please, don't waste your money on software and scams that are supposed to be shortcuts.
